Both parties exchanged views on joint projects and collaborative opportunities that could be implemented as part of COP29.
AZPROMO outlined several projects aimed at promoting sustainable development in the fight against climate change, emphasizing the importance of expanding joint efforts to ensure the sustainability of ongoing initiatives and to contribute to Azerbaijan's green economic development.
It should be noted that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is set to take place in Azerbaijan this November. The decision was made at the COP28 plenary session held in Dubai on December 11 last year.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, signed at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, aims to prevent harmful human interference with the climate system. COP, or the Conference of the Parties, is the Convention’s highest decision-making body overseeing its implementation.
There are 198 member countries of the Convention, and the COP typically convenes annually. The first session was held in Berlin in March 1995, with its secretariat based in Bonn.
