Rusagro ready to invest in Iran’s Amirabad Port

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Russian company, Rusagro, has announced readiness to invest in Iran's Amirabad Port.

Rusagro is one of the largest agriculture industry holding companies in Russia and the CIS. The holding's activity can be divided into sugar, meat, vegetable oil, and fats production.

A representative of Rusagro paid a visit to Iran's northern Amirabad Port and said that conditions were provided for investment by the company in Amirabad, Iran's Mehr news agency reported on June 25.

Ali Na'imi, Director of Amirabad Ports and Maritime Department, said that the Russian company can export flowers, citrus fruits, and other fruits via Amirabad.

Amirabad port is equipped with the most advanced maritime and telecommunication facilities and is apt for industrial and trade investments. The port was officially inaugurated in 2008.

On March 18, Na'imi said that more than 3.35 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded at the port in the past Iranian year.

Four new docks are projected to be built at the port, which will increase its shipment capacity by 2 million tons, he noted.
