Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora: Cooperation of Diaspora organizations to strengthen Turkic world

Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 June / Trend, I. Izzet /

The 1st Forum of the Heads of Diaspora Organizations of Member Countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States held in Baku may be considered valid, the head of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov told journalists.

According to him, the dream of national leader Heydar Aliyev has become a reality.

"With the support and attention of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, successive steps have been taken in the Turkic world. A forum of the heads of Diasporas of Turkic states may be considered valid. This forum brought together more than 450 guests from various countries of the world. It is attended by the heads of Diaspora organizations of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan," Ibrahimov said.

According to the chairman of the State Committee, the cooperation of Turkish Diaspora organizations will multiply the strength of the Turkic world.

"The Baku forum of Diaspora organizations of Azerbaijan and Turkey was held in 2007. Then, Baku hosted the Turkic Congress. But for the first time such a forum is held with the participation of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. I believe this is one of the important steps towards unification of the Turkic world. Henceforth, diaspora organizations of the four states will multiply their strength through demonstrations of unity, then voice of these states will sound louder. This issue is of great importance for our countries, because as newly independent states, we need to be recognized in the world. In this regard, support for Diaspora organizations of the countries with which we share common roots and common blood is of great value," the head of the State Committee said.

The event will adopt a strategy early on, the chairman of the State Committee said.

"The red line of this strategy will be marked by further development and unity of Diaspora organizations, support of the communities living in different countries of the world, and work on this matter," Ibrahimov said.
