BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4. The Azerbaijan Land Transportation Agency, committed to the continuous integration of innovative technologies for road infrastructure protection, prolonging the lifespan of roads, and ensuring safety standards, has organized a media tour at the Unified Center for Monitoring Electronic Scales, Trend reports.

The media tour, conducted on November 4, offered journalists in-depth insights into the operation of electronic weighing stations installed in the Garadagh district of Baku and the Center's activities.

The Agency's Unified Center for Monitoring Electronic Scales is focused on monitoring the permissible dimensions and weight parameters of oversized and heavy vehicles. The Center collects, processes, and utilizes information obtained from electronic scales under legal regulations.

Integrated into the information system of the Main State Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Center enables the identification of violations regarding the operation of oversized vehicles.

Media representatives visited a site at the 47.9-kilometer mark of the Baku-Alat-Gazakh-Georgia highway to familiarize themselves with the technical specifications of the electronic scales. The introduction of new technologies aims to protect road infrastructure and meet safety requirements. A total of 51 weighing stations are planned to be installed at 31 locations. Six electronic scales have already been set up on the Baku-Guba state border road with the Russian Federation and the Baku-Alat-Gazakh state border road with Georgia, while work continues in other areas.

According to legislation, vehicles exceeding permissible size parameters are detected by photo and video recording systems and reported to the central information system. The Administrative Offenses Code stipulates fines ranging from 200-7,000 manat ($117.6-$4,117).
