BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 4. A memorandum of cooperation has been signed between Azercosmos CJSC and the Agrarian Insurance Fund to implement satellite monitoring of agricultural fields in Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

The collaboration aims to provide preliminary insurance for agricultural lands against risks associated with droughts, floods, and other climate-related disasters through satellite monitoring, Azercosmos noted.

Amid the challenges posed by climate change, integrating satellite data into agricultural insurance is becoming increasingly essential for enhancing resilience in the sector.

By leveraging remote sensing technology, geographic information systems, and vegetation cover indices, the partnership will facilitate the monitoring of cultivated areas, enable yield forecasting, and assess damage in the event of natural disasters.

The initiative is expected to bolster the resilience of the agricultural sector, safeguarding it from financial losses.
