BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. Multilateral political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) were held in the capital of Türkiye, Ankara, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, Trend reports.

The delegation of Azerbaijan at the multilateral political consultations was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov.

During the political consultations, the prospects and plans for strengthening cooperation within the OTS in the political, economic, trade, transport and communications, humanitarian and other spheres were discussed. It was especially noted that the political consultations coincided with the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the OTS, established by the Nakhchivan Agreement. On this occasion, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov presented a special memorable gift to the Secretary General of the Organization Kubanychbek Omuraliev dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the historic Nakhchivan Agreement.

Satisfaction was expressed with the development of cooperation and strengthening of ties in various fields in the Turkic world within the Organization over the past 15 years, as well as the importance of continuing efforts in this direction using existing opportunities.

It was emphasized that Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to the further development of the Organization uniting the Turkic world, puts forward a number of initiatives in this direction, and the importance of the informal summit held this year in the city of Shusha and the adoption of the Karabakh Declaration was noted.

Elnur Mammadov provided detailed information on the preparatory work of Azerbaijan for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), as well as the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period.

As part of the multilateral political consultations, the heads of delegations also met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
