BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. Azerbaijan has put forward the proposal to create a unified information system titled "Türktransplant" at last year's meeting of health ministers from member states of the Turkic States Organization (OTS) in Samarkand, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev said in a statement to media, Trend reports.

Musayev emphasized that the goal of the "Türktransplant" system is to enhance the accessibility of certain medical services for citizens across a geopolitical area with a population of around 160 million.

"Europe has an institution dedicated to transplantation. We believe a similar entity can be established within the framework of the OTS. Initially, this will function as a unified information center, focusing on creating a centralized database of donors and recipients. The initial phase will develop an information space that provides a possibility for bone marrow transplantation. The number of donors varies significantly across countries, depending on population size, but the need for such services is substantial. Having a unified system facilitates cross-transplantation," he said.

The "Protocol of Intent to Create the Türktransplant System has been signed in Azerbaijan’s Shusha city.

The Organization of Turkic States (OTS), previously known as the Turkic Council or the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, is an intergovernmental entity that includes all but one of the internationally recognized Turkic sovereign nations. The primary objective is to foster extensive collaboration among the Turkic nations. The General Secretariat of OTS is situated in Istanbul, Türkiye.
