DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 9. Tajikistan and South Korea have discussed the progress of establishing solar panel manufacturing plants in the Tajik Dangara free economic zone (FEZ), Trend reports.

According to the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan, the parties expressed a strong desire to enhance their cooperation in this area.

On May 24, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon laid the foundation stone for the first facility dedicated to producing solar panel equipment and reviewed the ongoing project.

The industrial plant will be constructed with support from the Tajik government and foreign investment from South Korea's Global Solar Wafer, implemented in four phases. Upon completion, the project is expected to create over 8,000 jobs, 95 percent of which will be filled by Tajik citizens.

The facility aims to manufacture solar panel equipment, with a total investment of $2 billion across all phases. To facilitate the construction of this major enterprise, 22 hectares of land have been allocated in the western part of the Dangara free economic zone, where a favorable business and investment climate is being promoted.

The first phase is slated for completion by March 2025, leading to a production capacity of 5,000 megawatts of solar panel equipment.
