BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. The Education Development Forum dedicated to the 101st anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held in Baku, organized by the Ministry of Science and Education, the Education Development Foundation, and the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, Trend reports.
The major objective of the Forum was to provide an appropriate platform for joint dialog and comprehensive support to the education development process, as well as for sustainable development of partnerships between the state, universities, and industry.
The Forum annually provides a useful platform for discussion of the most important issues related to the current state of the country's education system, integration into the economy, and prospects for the development of public-private partnerships.
Addressing the Forum, Azerbaijan's Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev stated that the establishment of the Education Development Fund is a step forward to establish cooperation with private companies in the development of education.
He noted that the Education Development Forum, which is being held in Azerbaijan for the second time, has brought together various parties and private and public institutions.
“Several projects related to education development are being implemented within the framework of cooperation with private companies. Among them, initiatives aimed at supporting girls' education are among them,” the minister added.
First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev, addressing the Forum, noted that the number of students entering technical specialties continues to grow and they can find jobs in accordance with the needs of the labor market.
He said work continues to improve the draft law on innovation activity.
“It is not possible to make changes in the education system overnight. It takes time, and we must be ready for this transformation. Everyone must constantly expand their knowledge. This is the only way to make progress in education,” the deputy minister emphasized.
In his speech at the Forum, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anar Aliyev noted that it is necessary to create a link between the education system and the labor market.
According to him, the ministry is implementing employment programs.
“In addition, job seekers are involved in vocational training. Nowadays, the solution to the problems facing education and the labor market should not be entrusted only to the state. The private sector should also join this activity. The vocational training provided is organized following the needs of the labor market. We can provide training in 170 specialties. Next year we plan to expand cooperation in this area with the private sector,” the Deputy Minister said.
SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf noted in his speech at the Forum that the development of science requires an appropriate ecosystem.
He noted that SOCAR is implementing an internship program with five higher education institutions.
“Cooperation with universities is conducted precisely in the field of personnel training. In 5-10 years in any field, technologies will be completely different. We must possess these technologies to compete with other countries. The necessary ecosystem must exist for the development of science.
In the area of intellectual property, there should also be a necessary platform for the development of science. Raising the prestige of science is very important. Young people who want to do science should know that practicing science as well as owning patents also generates income. Science also needs human capital,” Najaf said.
