ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 9. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) experts familiarized the Turkmen delegation with measures to streamline maritime shipping and presented the Single Maritime Window system along with methods for its implementation, Trend reports via the official media of Turkmenistan.
This issue was revealed following a seminar organized by the IMO for employees of the State Service for Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan (Turkmendenizderyayollary), as well as representatives from various ministries, agencies, and transportation and logistics companies in the country.
The experts presented legal documents and mechanisms concerning the optimization of shipping processes to the participants and also discussed the establishment of a national Facilitation Committee (FAL), which will coordinate efforts to streamline formalities in transportation.
To note, the FAL addresses issues related to simplifying international maritime movements, including the arrival, stay, and departure of vessels, people, and cargo from ports. The committee also considers matters of electronic business, including the single window concept, and strives to ensure the right balance between regulation and facilitation of international maritime trade.
