BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. To win in three out of four weight classes is a significant achievement. This success is a collective effort involving coaches, athletes, and the federation," said Aleksandr Tarakanov, head coach of Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestling national team, upon their return from the World Championship for non-Olympic categories in Tirana, Albania, Trend reports via Idman.biz.
Tarakanov praised the team’s success in securing three gold medals and shared future goals: “We are building a strong team now. We have talented young U23 wrestlers who will create healthy competition in the national team. The athletes are strong. Now, we will increase our focus on Olympic weight categories. We already have champions in continental championships, but we aim to build a team that will challenge any competitor. I believe we will return from the Los Angeles Olympic Games with the same joy and positive energy. Azerbaijan loves and follows wrestling wholeheartedly, and we will continue to bring joy to our fans."
The Azerbaijani team concluded the championship with three gold medals, finishing as the top-ranked team with 85 points.
