BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) has completed a major renovation and reconstruction at the Ahmadli section of the Baku freight station, which is strategically important for freight transportation, Trend reports via the ADY.

This station, where the first oil train was launched in 1883, currently handles 40 percent of the oil and petroleum products transported across the country.

As part of the ongoing restoration work at the station, alongside infrastructure updates, the shipment of goods with digital documentation, without paper records, has been tested.

In the administrative building of the station, constructed 70 years ago, nine old production facilities have been renovated and modern production spaces have been built.

Additionally, non-operational maintenance points have been replaced with four fully equipped modular containers.

New asphalt paving has been laid on the access road to the station and over a 400-square-meter area, and the two-story building of the post has been repaired.

Furthermore, to improve working conditions, facilities for a kitchen, restroom, changing rooms, prayer rooms, and other necessary infrastructure have been provided. Station staff have been supplied with new uniforms.

In line with the year's motto, "Solidarity for a Green World", greening efforts have taken place on the station's premises, with dozens of trees planted.

To note, plans are in place for the modernization of the existing nine tracks, the construction of new ones, and further improvement of the overall infrastructure to facilitate the receipt and dispatch of freight at the station.
