BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. Mines and explosive munitions have contaminated 11,667 square kilometers of Azerbaijani territory, Chairman of the board of the Azerbaijan Republic Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov said at a business meeting with donors and partners of the Karabakh Revival Fund and ANAMA, Trend reports.
Suleymanov stated that preliminary assessments indicate the presence of around 1.5 million mines in these areas.
"Research is currently in progress in this field," he added.
To note, ANAMA hosted a working meeting with donors and partners of the Karabakh Revival Fund on October 30.
The event, aimed at supporting ANAMA's demining efforts—one of the most significant tasks in accelerating the implementation of the Great Return Plan—was attended by officials, members of parliament, donors, partners of the Karabakh Revival Fund, and media representatives.
