BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed amendments to the law "On tourism", prohibiting a number of activities in tourist and recreational zones, Trend reports.
The document stipulates prohibition of the following activities:
- activities related to the chemical industry, metallurgy, and nuclear energy;
- operations of large industrial enterprises, technological equipment companies, and machine engineering;
- waste disposal activities, operations of recycling enterprises, as well as activities related to the placement of facilities and landfills for these purposes;
- activities carried out without an environmental impact assessment (EIA) document for the types of activities specified in the appendix to the law of Azerbaijan "On Environmental Impact Assessment" and without conducting a state environmental expertise of this document, as well as other activities that do not require an environmental impact assessment but are subject to state environmental expertise and are carried out without a positive conclusion from the state environmental expertise.
