BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 30. Baku's medical institutions have been put on high alert in anticipation of COP29, said Vugar Gurbanov, Executive Director of the Medical Territorial Units Management Association (TABIB) at a briefing on the organization of medical care within COP29, Trend reports.
“First and foremost, I would like to emphasize that the medical team from the COP29 Operational Company conducted thorough inspections of all medical institutions designated for the event under TABIB, ensuring they are on high alert. Over the past months, regular meetings and training sessions for both medical and non-medical staff have been held. In the emergency and urgent medical care department of Yeni Klinika, 10 beds equipped with specialized monitors and oxygen panels have been allocated, along with 3 beds in the pediatric emergency department, 10 in the inpatient unit, 4 in the intensive care unit, 3 in the pediatric intensive care unit, and 1 operating room,” Gurbanov said.
The Executive Director added that the Mohammadi modular hospital at the Sabunchu Medical Center has set aside 370 beds for intensive and inpatient care.
"The modular hospital at the Clinical Medical Center includes 10 beds specifically designated for patients with airborne infectious diseases.
Additionally, a fully equipped burns unit has been established at the Central Oil Workers Hospital. Beds have also been allocated in the toxicology department of the Clinical Medical Center to ensure appropriate medical care," he added.
To note, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in Azerbaijan in November this year. The decision was made at the plenary meeting of COP28 held in Dubai on December 11 last year.
