Two new data centers using green technologies and decarbonized materials will be built in Azerbaijan.
The data centers will be operated by "AzInTelecom" LLC under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan. The facilities, planned for construction of the primary and backup data centers in the Absheron and Hajigabul regions, will employ advanced technologies and methods to minimize carbon emissions. To preserve the ecological balance, both buildings will apply innovative solutions such as energy efficiency, efficient water consumption, waste recycling, and natural cooling systems.
The TIER 3 Design certificate, which represents international quality standards for stability and reliability, has already been obtained for both data centers. Additionally, “AzInTelecom” LLC has obtained the preliminary "LEED" Report required for the "LEED v4" international certification, which defines the environmental sustainability of the infrastructure for these data centers.
A comprehensive plan has been developed to mitigate soil erosion and water pollution during construction. In addition, preventing dust impact, chemical emissions, and indirect air pollution during construction, are high-priority concerns. Solar panels will be installed to provide the data centers with renewable energy, helping to decrease indirect carbon emissions.
By joining the UN Global Compact in 2024, “AzInTelecom” LLC has set a goal to align its activities with the environmental management principles and expand its support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ecosystem. The company strives to maintain a balance between technological progress and the environmental responsibility.
"AzInTelecom" LLC is the largest cloud provider in Azerbaijan, and the first institution in the South Caucasus to achieve the TIER 3 certification. The company currently provides cloud services to over 200 organizations.
