BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the COP29 Organizing Committee Samir Nuriyev met with the delegation headed by Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Anacláudia Rossbach, who is on a visit to our country within the framework of COP29, Trend reports.

At the meeting, Rossbach congratulated Azerbaijan on the organization of COP29 at a high level and wished our country success in chairing the event.

Samir Nuriyev noted with satisfaction the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat and the inclusion of the topic of urbanization among the priorities of the agenda of our country's COP29 chairmanship.

The meeting highlighted the successful organization of national urban development forums in Aghdam in 2022, Zangilan in 2023, and World Settlement Day events in Baku within the framework of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat.

Nuriyev noted that holding the 13th World Urban Forum, one of the most important UN events, in May 2026 by Azerbaijan, which has great experience in organizing global and regional events at a high level, is a manifestation of fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat.

Rossbach highly appreciated our country's support of UN-Habitat activities and voluntary financial contributions.

The meeting also discussed issues related to the restoration of territories liberated from occupation, works to ensure sustainable settlement of former IDPs, and cooperation with UN-Habitat in this field.

In addition, a detailed exchange of views was held on the preparatory works for the World Urban Forum to be held in Baku in 2026.
