MOSCOW, Russia, October 7. Azerbaijan made a colossal contribution to the victory in World War II, the general director of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies (Russia) Igor Korotchenko told Trend in Moscow.
“Veterans and heroes of the Great Patriotic War are respected and remembered in Azerbaijan. In terms of contribution to the victory of the Soviet people, Azerbaijan made a colossal contribution. First of all, it is, of course, oil, as well as the Molotov cocktail, which was invented by Azerbaijani scientists. It is also those hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijani soldiers, officers in the Soviet Army, who reached Berlin and participated in all key events,” he said.
Korotchenko noted that the 80th anniversary of the victory will be widely celebrated in Russia.
“We are grateful that Azerbaijan shares, remembers, and will participate in these commemorative events. We express our gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev,” he said.
