BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 6. The fight against climate change urges joining forces to prevent further disasters, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Ahmed Bin Mohammad Al-Jarwan said at the Global Baku Summit of Religious Leaders in Baku today, Trend reports.
He pointed out that the world is facing dangers that undermine the foundations of peace and stability.
"We must take immediate action to call on all interested parties to unite. Acts of aggression and violence require unity in the fight for peace. We urge cooperation. When religious leaders unite their voices, they can contribute to strengthening peace based on tolerance and mutual understanding.
I express my gratitude to Azerbaijan for organizing today's event. I wish the government success in the upcoming COP29 climate conference," he added.
To note, the Global Baku Summit of Religious Leaders, organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Committee for Work with Religious Entities, the Muslim Council of Elders, the Caucasus Muslims Office, and the UN Environment Programme, is continuing its work in Baku within the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
The global forum is set to roll out the red carpet for around 30 leaders from both secular and traditional religions, heads of prominent religious centers - patriarchs, officials from the Vatican, and Al-Azhar, along with internationally recognized religious and public figures hailing from various corners of the globe and diverse faiths, representatives from government, academia, and religious institutions hailing from 55 countries and 30 international organizations, and media representatives.
