ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 17. Turkmenistan and Pakistan have identified economic partnership as a key vector of cooperation development, Trend reports via Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry.
According to information, this was revealed after Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and President Asif Ali Zardari met during the Turkmen delegation's honorary attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government meeting.
The parties acknowledged that the partnership holds a world of opportunity for boosting trade turnover and broadening mutually advantageous connections.
Moreover, a keen eye was kept on the agreements that had already been struck. It was emphasized the importance of joint work on projects, including the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line.
The parties noted the finalization of bilateral documents that will ensure the successful implementation of the mentioned projects.
To note, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline is a large-scale project to transport natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan and Pakistan to India. Turkmenistan began construction of the pipeline on December 13, 2015, with the aim of delivering 33 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
Turkmenistan is a major gas supplier and plays a key role in the development of the pipeline in an effort to diversify energy export routes and strengthen regional economic ties.
