BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Construction progress of the Boyukshor-Pirshagi highway in Azerbaijan has already reached 75 percent, Trend reports via the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads.
The new highway, with a total length of 12.7 km, is being constructed in accordance with technical category 1b and will play a significant role in regulating traffic flows considering Baku's future development. The roadbed width is 30.6 meters, with each lane measuring 3.5 meters; the new road will consist of six traffic lanes.
The construction of the roadbed, earthwork, site clearing, relocation of utilities, drilling, and other works have been completed, and asphalting is already underway in some areas.
According to the project, work continues on the construction of three road interchanges, three bridges, and two underpasses along the road:
- drilling and embankment work underway at the first 400-meter section;
- a 62-meter-long bridge completed at the one-km section;
- asphalt concrete paving laid on the 4.4-4.5 km section where the underpass is located;
- construction of supports and access roads to the Yanardagh interchange completed, along with the installation of beam spans at the 6.7 km section;
- 23 supports have been built, seven out of nine spans are ready, and work is ongoing on the remaining two at the Pirshagi interchange.
Additionally, the construction of U-turns has been completed in necessary areas along the road, and 31 drainage pipes of various diameters have been installed.
Steps are being taken for the construction of pedestrian walkways on both sides of the highway and the installation of a roadside lighting system. Along the 2-16 km section of the road, cable lines have been laid, lamp posts installed, and work on paving with cobblestones is ongoing. Protective barriers are being erected along the road shoulders.
The new road infrastructure project is being carried out quickly and efficiently in accordance with "Construction Norms and Rules".
The new road starts in the territory of the Balakhani settlement (Boyukshor Lake) and passes through Digah and Mammadli settlements to Kurdakhani settlement.
