ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 17. Turkmenistan has participated in a ministerial panel meeting organized by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) in Seoul, Trend reports via the Turkmen embassy in South Korea.
This issue was revealed following the participation of Turkmenistan’s Deputy Minister of Environment, Nury Jumashov, in a conference on green development and the implementation of the Paris Agreement and zero emissions goals.
In his speech, Jumashov emphasized Turkmenistan's efforts to maintain ecological balance and reduce the negative impact of industry on the environment.
He also highlighted the importance of adopting clean technologies and utilizing renewable energy sources.
The deputy minister reaffirmed the country's commitment to the Paris Agreement and support for the Global Methane Initiative.
Additionally, the official discussed plans to establish a regional center for climate change technologies in Central Asia, which will be led by Turkmenistan's President Serdar Berdymukhamedov.
This initiative aims to enhance cooperation in addressing climate change and adapting to its effects, Jumashov explained.
On the same day, the Turkmen delegation held a bilateral meeting with Ban Ki-moon, the president of the Global Green Growth Institute.
During the meeting, he pointed out Turkmenistan's significant environmental initiatives.
To note, the parties also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in green technologies and sustainable forest management, which opens up new prospects for joint efforts.
