ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 17. Turkmenistan is actively preparing for negotiations to join the World Trade Organization (WTO), Trend reports via the country's official media.
According to the media, a Turkmen delegation, consisting of employees from the State Customs Service, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, and the Central Bank, attended training focused on negotiation strategies for accessing goods markets.
The event, held in Geneva, gathered representatives from Azerbaijan, the Bahamas, Bhutan, Belarus, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, and Uzbekistan.
The primary focus was on developing effective negotiation strategies, aligning the country's positions with international partners, and formulating commitments regarding tariffs and services.
To note, the EU is actively supporting Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO as part of its strategy for cooperation between the EU and Central Asia.
