BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 16. The National Gymnastics Arena poses an amazing atmosphere, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) Nurlana Mammadzade said at the opening ceremony of the European TeamGym Championship in Baku today, Trend reports.
She highlighted that AGF has repeatedly hosted prestigious competitions in Olympic and non-Olympic types of gymnastics, but the European TeamGym Championship is being held for the first time at the National Gymnastics Arena.
"TeamGym is very popular in European countries. It's a big movement. Representatives from 14 countries are participating in the competitions. The number of delegation members exceeds 800 people, with 500 athletes. Our team will also take part in the competitions. Athletes compete on three gymnastic apparatuses, which are unique to TeamGym.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to the National Gymnastics Arena. There are also many foreign fans here. I also invite our fans to feel this atmosphere," the official added.
To note, the European TeamGym Championship is taking place on October 16-19 in Baku.
The tournament will showcase a cornucopia of talent from Azerbaijani, Czech, Danish, Austrian, Estonian, Finnish, UK, Icelandic, Italian, Luxembourg, Dutch, Portuguese, Norwegian, and Swedish athletes, each bringing their A-game to the field.
