Uzbekistan to start polyvinyl chloride production

Uzbekistan will be producing polyvinyl chloride at Navoiazot JSC by September 2019, Trend reports citing the Uzbek media.

The designed production capacity amounts to 100,000 tons of polyvinyl chloride, 71,800 tons of caustic soda and 300,000 tons of methanol.

The cost of the project is more than $500 million, of which $60.3 million are own funds of Navoiazot, $66 million are loans of the Uzbekistan Reconstruction and Development Fund and $373.8 million are loans of the Exim Bank of China.

The construction of the new plant is carried out by a consortium of Chinese companies – China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd and HQC (Shanghai). More than 900 jobs will be created after the implementation of the project.

With the launch of production, consumers in Uzbekistan will be provided with import-substituting products. In addition, it will be possible to export more than 50 percent of the plant’s products.
