Allocations from Kyrgyz budget for China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project revealed

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 27. A sum of 52.7 million soms ($593,421) was allocated from Kyrgyzstan's republican budget in 2023 for the development of the feasibility study for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, Trend reports.

According to the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the country was the contracting authority.

In addition to this, funds totaling 150.5 million soms ($1.694 million) have been allocated in full for the reconstruction of the Balykchy-Cholpon-Ata-Korumdu highway; 276 million soms ($3.107 million) have been allocated for the reconstruction of the Balykchy-Bokonbayevo-Karakol highway.

Furthermore, 410 million soms ($4.616 million) have been allocated for the design and major repair of the Alabuka-Zhanibazar-Kirovka highway, spanning 150 km.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, a planned 454-kilometer rail line, is intended to connect China's and Uzbekistan's railways through Kyrgyzstan's territory and further link up with the European railway network through Turkmenistan, Iran, and Türkiye.
