Kyrgyzstan strikes housing deal with IsDB

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 27. Kyrgyzstan has signed an agreement with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) for a sum of $79 million under the project "Financing Affordable Housing According to Sharia Standards," Trend reports.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers, the signing took place during a meeting between the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet Adylbek Kasymaliev and the President of IsDB, Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser.

"Thanks to the implementation of this project, thousands of needy families will receive social housing through mortgage financing. Providing the population with affordable housing is a priority direction of state policy and is under the control of the president," Kasymaliev said.

The bank has undertaken 27 projects in Kyrgyzstan totaling more than $500 million, with projects worth more than $200 million currently being implemented.

To note, Adylbek Kasymaliev is currently in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) for a working visit. During the trip, he will participate in the 49th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group and will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with the leadership of financial institutions and international companies.
