BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor) will become a crucial part of the global supply chain for the foreseeable future, Ding Jianwei, Senior Fellow of the Chinese Taihe Institute, told Trend.

"In the foreseeable future, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route will enter a new cycle of accelerated development and become a new major trade route in Eurasia, an important part of the global supply chain. More and more countries will participate in this transport route, and the volume of freight traffic will increase significantly," he said.

At the same time, according to Ding Jianwei, the future development of the Middle Corridor will not be smooth and will face many risks and challenges.

"It will inevitably be influenced by geopolitics, especially by various forces that are focused on the corridor of their own geopolitical ambitions. The battle for dominance will intensify," he noted.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.

The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.

The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
