ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 26. Turkmenistan is discussing measures with foreign partners to simplify transport operations along the Middle Corridor, Trend reports.
According to an official source, this matter was discussed at the 2nd Meeting of the Transport Coordinating Committee of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which is being held in Budapest, Hungary, on April 25-26.
The delegates' discussion focused on steps to simplify transport and transit operations along the Middle Corridor, digitalization of transportation procedures, and multimodal connections.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Maritime and River Transport Agency of Turkmenistan (Turkmendenizderyayollary) Batyr Annaev, who in his speech focused the attention of colleagues on systemic transformations in the transport and logistics sector of Turkmenistan in order to realize the geographical advantages of the country in forming the transit framework of Eurasian supply chains.
The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.
The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.
The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
