The Swiss Stadler company is ready to contribute to the development of tram transport in Azerbaijan, the company told Trend.

According to the company, it has extensive experience in the design and supply of light rail vehicles.

"Stadler has supplied more than 1,300 light rail to 18 countries. Our portfolio includes the Metelitsa tram [produced by Stadler’s affiliate in Belarus], which was specially designed by our engineers in 2014 for countries with broad rail tracks. This model was sold to several countries and successfully tested in some cities,” the company said.

“Besides, trams offered by Stadler can be easily adapted to customer requirements: the number of cars, interior and exterior design, body width, passenger capacity, arrangement of seats, operation with or without overhead catenary, one- or two-way direction of travel - almost all the technical characteristics can be flexibly modified,” the company noted.

“So far, Stadler is known in Azerbaijan as a supplier of trains, but we can also contribute to the development of the country's tram transport," added the company.

As earlier reported, in the first half of 2021, Stadler recorded orders worth 3.1 billion Swiss francs($3.3 billion).
