Volume of industrial production in Kazakhstan's Almaty increases

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 20. The short-term economic indicator of the Kazakh city of Almaty grew by 13.1 percent from January through October 2023, Trend reports.

In the field of industrial production, products worth 1.639 trillion tenge (about $3.5 billion) were produced, which is 18.9 percent more than in the same period in 2022.

The manufacturing industry grew by 18.6 percent. There is an increase in indicators in the construction sector of 1.9 percent. Since the beginning of the year, 1.86 million square meters of housing have been commissioned, an increase of 19.9 percent.

In addition, trade grew by 14.5 percent, including retail (by 7.1 percent) and wholesale (17.2 percent).

At the same time, communication services grew by 3.1 percent.

Foreign trade turnover (excluding EAEU countries) from January through September 2023 amounted to $18.6 billion, an increase of 29.9 percent.

Exports amounted to $3.4 billion, an increase of 21.8 percent; imports amounted to $15.2 billion, an increase of 31.8 percent.

The index of industrial production in Kazakhstan from January through July 2023 amounted to 103.6 percent. During this period, industrial goods were produced for a total of 26,3 trillion tenge (about $55.5 billion). In the structure of production, 46.6 percent (12,2 trillion tenge or about $25.7 billion) came from the mining industry, and 46.7 percent (12,3 trillion tenge or about $25.9 billion) from the manufacturing industry.
