Kyrgyzstan reports rise in milk production

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 28. A total of 174,733 tons of milk were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through February 2024, which is a 1.9-percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan reveals that the Chuy region led in milk production with 50,079 tons, followed by the Osh region with 33,449 tons, and Issyk-Kul with 31,942 tons during the reporting months.

The average milk yield per cow reached 212.6 kg from January through February 2024. Farms in the Chuy (356 kg), Talas (293.4 kg), and Issyk-Kul (244.9 kg) regions surpassed the country's average milk yields.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan produced 1.777 million tons of milk in 2023, a 2.5 percent increase compared to 2022. The average milk yield per cow was 2,022.4 kg. Farms in the Chuy (3,054.1 kg), Talas (2,276.5 kg), and Issyk-Kul (2,050.8 kg) regions exceeded the country's average milk yields last year.

The gross output of agriculture, forestry, and fishing in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 24.236 billion soms ($270.763 million) from January through February 2024, with the volume of production increasing by 1.4 percent.
