Azerbaijan, Baku, June 13 / Trend , J. Babayeva/ Azerbaijani state does not interfere with religion. But the country needs to regulate religious activities, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Public and Political Department Head Ali Hasanov told reports.

"Every country regulates religious activities. Azerbaijani citizens enjoy full religious freedom. Amendments to the law on Law on Freedom of Conscience have nothing to do with this right. Amendments aim to regulate religious activities and establish law and order. This is quite normal," Hasanov said.

Under amendments, religious communities must re-register until end of the year.

A total of 524 religious communities have been registered in Azerbaijan with 32 of them being non-Islamic. As many as 156 religious communities were registered for the last two years; 155 are Islamic, one Jewish religious community Kubar in Sumgayit.
