Uzbekistan reveals preliminary voter turnout for its Liberal-Democratic Party

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 28. Preliminary data from Uzbekistan's parliamentary election indicates that the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – Liberal-Democratic Party has garnered 34.75 percent of the votes, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizomkhodzhaev said at a press conference in Tashkent today, Trend reports.

In total, 5.19 million voters supported the Liberal-Democratic Party, resulting in the allocation of 26 parliamentary seats.

The "Milliy Tiklanish" Democratic Party received support from approximately 2.81 million voters, translating to about 18.8 percent of the total votes and earning 14 seats.

The Ecological Party garnered around 1.96 million votes, accounting for 13.1 percent, resulting in the allocation of 10 parliamentary mandates.

The People's Democratic Party received 2.55 million votes, equating to 17.1 percent, and secured 13 seats.

The Social-Democratic Party "Adolat" attracted about 2.42 million votes, representing 16.2 percent, resulting in 12 parliamentary seats.

To note, polling stations have opened in Uzbekistan for election to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the country and to local kengashes (councils) of people's deputies on October 27.Polling stations are open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+5), with preliminary results expected on October 28.

Five parties are participating in the elections: the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen – Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party "Milliy Tiklanish," Ecological Party, People’s Democratic Party, and Social Democratic Party "Adolat."

This year's elections are being held according to a mixed electoral system in line with the updated Constitution and national electoral legislation. This system provides for 75 members of the Legislative Chamber to be elected in single-mandate constituencies using the majoritarian electoral system, while the remaining 75 members will be elected using the proportional representation electoral system with party lists.

Another notable aspect of this year's elections is the full digitalization of the process through the "E-Saylov" information system.
