ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 28. Turkmenistan plans to significantly increase gas production at Galkynysh, one of the country's largest fields, Director of GaffneyCline Energy Advisory Steven Travers said, Trend reports.

He made the remark at a panel session titled "Monetization of Natural Gas - a key transition and low carbon fuel" within the 29th "Oil & Gas of Turkmenistan -2024" International Conference & Expo in Ashgabat.

"By 2030, gas production at this field is expected to increase to 160 million cubic meters per day, which will open new opportunities for economic growth and the energy security of the state," noted the company's director.

According to him, achieving these ambitious goals requires active development of the field, including the modernization of extraction and processing technologies.

Travers pointed out that increasing gas volumes will not only improve the country's financial indicators but also allow for the diversification of export routes, playing a key role in strengthening Turkmenistan's economic resilience.

Investments in infrastructure and modern technologies will be a crucial factor for the successful implementation of the project. This will enhance gas extraction efficiency while simultaneously reducing environmental risks associated with field operations, he added.

Previously, the company announced that a seven-stage development plan for the Galkynysh field has been developed in collaboration with the Gas Research Institute in Turkmenistan.
