FUZULI, Azerbaijan, October 28. The international community needs to actively assist Azerbaijan in its efforts to demine the liberated territories, the head of the 33-member travel group of the British Piki Reels Club Yves Bouvier told Trend.

"We were told that around 1,500,000 mines were planted here by the Armenians, and I'm really impressed with how the Azerbaijanis are putting all their effort into clearing these mines. It is kind of a pity that the international community is not assisting Azerbaijan with demining efforts here. I wish the international community would do more for that," Bouvier noted.

He also highlighted the significant progress made in restoring the territories, emphasizing the impressive scale of construction, especially considering the short time since his last visit.

To note, representatives of major international travel clubs have been on the go, making the rounds to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur a whopping 11 times between 2020 and 2024. Over 400 foreign travelers from upwards of 50 countries jumped on the bandwagon for these trips.

This visit by the British Piki Reels club marked their 12th trip to the well-trodden path. These trips are the bread and butter for shining a light on the once-occupied territories as a piece of dark tourism pie, while also pulling back the curtain on the extensive construction and restoration work that's in full swing.
