Number of enterprises with foreign investments in Kyrgyzstan increases

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 28. A total of 4,264 enterprises with foreign investments were operating in Kyrgyzstan in 2023, with 72 percent fully owned by foreign capital, Trend reports.

According to the Kyrgyz Statistical Committee, the number of enterprises with foreign investments increased by 22.7 percent compared to 2019 and by 21.3 percent compared to 2022.

The main partners, accounting for 53.8 percent of enterprises, were from the CIS countries (2,295 enterprises), while the remaining 1,969 enterprises partnered with countries outside the CIS.

The majority of enterprises in 2023 were joint ventures with Russia (32.5 percent), China (15.3 percent), Kazakhstan (13.8 percent), and Türkiye (9.3 percent).

Of the fully foreign-owned enterprises, 1,396 (or 45.4 percent) were based in countries outside the CIS, while 1,676 (54.6 percent) were from CIS countries.

In 2023, the largest share of enterprises with foreign investments (44.7 percent) operated in wholesale and retail trade, as well as in automobile and motorcycle repair. Other sectors included industry (13.5 percent), professional, scientific, and technical activities (9.7 percent), and construction (5.1 percent).

More than 81 percent of enterprises with foreign investments conducted business activities in Bishkek.
