BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. Azerbaijan produced a total of 429,000 tons of meat, over 1.6 million tons of milk, 1.8 million eggs, 14,800 tons of wool, and 239.4 tons of cocoons from January through September 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that in comparison to the same period in the previous year, meat production increased by 1 percent, milk production by 0.7 percent, and egg production by 5.6 percent. However, the production of wool and cocoons fell by 1.9 percent and 32.9 percent, respectively.
Overall agricultural output saw a rise of 0.8 percent compared to the reporting period last year, with livestock production increasing by 1.4 percent and crop production by 0.3 percent.
As of October 1 of the current year, Azerbaijan has harvested 3,134 tons of grain and leguminous crops from its fields, including corn, marking a 1.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The country also saw the collection of 1,712,900 tons of vegetables, which is 1.1 percent higher than the previous year. However, potato production decreased by 9.1 percent to 892,300 tons.
In the fruit and berry sector, production rose slightly by 0.9 percent, totaling 794,400 tons. Melon production experienced a significant increase of 12 percent, reaching 490,000 tons. Conversely, grape harvests fell by 6.3 percent, amounting to 170,900 tons.
Notably, sugar beet production surged by 80.6 percent to 86.1 thousand tons, while sunflower output increased by 12.4 percent, totaling 29,900 tons. Cotton production also rose significantly, with an increase of 38.1 percent to 19,700 tons. Tobacco production saw a remarkable growth of 43.1 percent, reaching 4,100 tons, and green tea leaf production was up by 3.7 percent, totaling 997.5 tons.
