Azerbaijan must shape its own religious model, State Committee for Religious Associations vice chairman said.
"Religious model can be fully shaped by reducing destructive and irrelevant influence in Azerbaijan and through integration of believers to country's public life," State Committee for Religious Associations Vice Chairman Elchin Asgarov said at a conference National Security and Freedom of Consciousness organized by Human Rights Institute.
Asgarov said unfortunately there is a trend of negative attitude to integration of believers to society. "This problem exists not only in Azerbaijan. It persisted in a stage of early development of a number of countries adhering to the liberal western values. Today, there is a need for integration of believers to society in Azerbaijan," he said.
Azerbaijan has a right to self-normalization, control and shape its own religious traditions, he said. "Today, Azerbaijan has enough religious personnel potential. And I believe that internal staff capacity will ensure country's religious needs," Asgarov said.
