A delegation of the Azerbaijani Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) took part in the 2nd Annual Caspian Business Forum in New York, Trend reports referring to the Agency.
The representatives of the state agencies and businessmen from various countries including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, attended the event. The possibilities of cooperation and prospects for developing ties in various sectors of the economy were discussed.
While delivering speech at the forum, Chairman of the Board of the Agency Orkhan Mammadov spoke about the Azerbaijani economy, the favorable business and investment environment of the country, and measures taken to develop entrepreneurship, in particular small and medium-sized businesses.
He noted that special attention was paid to the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Azerbaijan, and the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises was created to support SMEs.
Having informed the participants about the activities of the agency, support mechanisms and services rendered to entrepreneurs operating in the field of micro, small and medium-sized businesses, Mammadov emphasized that the structure is interested in learning from experience in this field of advanced countries including the US.
The delegation of the Agency visited the US in 2018 to expand ties and exchange experience in the field of SMEs, held a number of fruitful meetings and participated with Azerbaijani businessmen in the Caspian Innovation Summit in Boston.
The Agency is interested in cooperation with the US corresponding structures in the field of SMEs, as well as in such spheres as agribusiness, electronic commerce and others.
From the point of view of expanding ties in the field of SMEs, mutual visits of representatives of the corresponding entities and businessmen are important. The Agency invites the US business structures and representatives of the SME sector to Azerbaijan to invest in the country and implement joint projects.
During the visit to the US, the delegation of the Agency plans to hold meetings with various organizations to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in the field of SMEs .
