Turkey Must not Launch Active Measures in Iraqi Border – Georgian Ex-President

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Huseynov / The ex-President of Georgia, Eduard Shevarnadzeh, considers that Turkey must not launch active military measures in the border with Iraq against Kurd militants. "I believe that Turkey will not take such a step," Shevarnadze said by the telephone form Tbilisi to Trend news agency on 8 November.

Turkey several times stated about will to launch military actions in the border with the North Iraq to eliminate the militants of the Kurd Work Party. The Turkish Parliament gave permission to launch the military measures in October.

Shevarnadze considers that start of military actions by Turkey will affect on the whole region.

Touching upon the recognition of independence of Kosovo Shevarnadze said that the regulation of conflicts in the region depends on Russia.

"Settlement of Abkhazia and South Osetia issues depends on Russia. Recently answering to questions of journalists I said them to tell Vladimir Putin Russian President that the regulation of Abkhazia and South Osetia issues depend on Russia," Shevarnadze said.
