Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / Russia placed additional arms and troops to Abkhazia, thus provoking new tensions in the conflict area, Georgian State Minister for Conflict Settlement David Bakradze said at a special briefing on 12 November.
"We have been informed that 5 tanks and 200 soldiers, mainly Chechnya residents, were deployed today in Ochamchir sea base, which has been recently repaired through the funds of the Russian Defence Ministry," he said.
"Obviously, Russia considers Georgia weakening for the time being and believes it may make such provocative steps. We urge everybody to abstain from such steps in order to prevent provocations and tensions in the conflict area. We are ready to repulse all attempts to annex Georgia's territory," Bakradze said.
