ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 26. Kazakhstan plans to output over 60 billion cubic meters of gas in 2024, Trend reports, citing the Energy Ministry.
Thus, in accordance with the Law of Kazakhstan "On Gas and Gas Supply," the Ministry of Energy, together with QazaqGaz (a national company), has formed a forecast gas balance until 2030.
More than 85 percent of gas production in Kazakhstan is provided by the Tengiz (27 percent), Karachaganak (38 percent), and Kashagan (20 percent) projects.
The pace of development of the gas industry is confirmed by the fact that gas production in the country has been steadily growing in recent years. Thus, according to the forecast gas balance in 2024, gas production is expected to increase to 60.456 billion cubic meters.
The commercial gas production plan for 2024 is 28.054 billion cubic meters. According to the forecast gas balance, current domestic consumption in 2024 is 20.9 billion cubic meters.
Meanwhile, in 2023, gas production in Kazakhstan amounted to 59.063 billion cubic meters, including large fields such as Tengiz (16.009 billion cubic meters), Karachaganak (22.385 billion cubic meters), Kashagan (11.856 billion cubic meters), and others (8.813 billion cubic meters).
