BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. The United States and Moldova have identified ways to deepen cooperation in the field of gas supplies to Central Europe, a joint statement by the delegations of the two countries following the strategic dialogue in Washington, released by the US State Department, says, Trend reports.
The parties are reported to have discussed a “vertical corridor” that would allow the use of existing gas infrastructure to deliver gas from terminals in the Eastern Mediterranean to Ukraine and Moldova, and ultimately to Central Europe via Ukraine.
It was noted that in April 2024, Moldova purchased natural gas from the United States for the first time, and it was emphasized that future gas supplies from the United States would strengthen both the energy security of the Republic of Moldova and bilateral trade relations between the United States and Moldova.
