TBILISI, Georgia, May 4. ADB is actively working with Azerbaijan on the green agenda, ADB Director General for Central and West Asia, Eugenue Zhukov said in response to a question from Trend during the briefing at the ADB annual meeting in Tbilisi today.

"The Azerbaijani government has announced the aim to generate 30 percent of electricity from renewables by 2030. And we are working very closely with the government on that. Just recently, ADB invested in a very large 230 MW solar plant with Masdar," he said.

Zhukov pointed out that the ADB is looking for more opportunities in Azerbaijan to invest in the similar projects, and that there are more announcement to be made soon.

"I had the pleasure to visit it with the country director last month. It’s truly impressive 550 hectares solar farm with the robots cleaning the solar panels every night and the solar panel turning automatically towards the sun. It really works at full capacity. And we are looking for more opportunities in Azerbaijan to invest in the similar projects. I think this year we will have some announcements," he added.
