Turkmenistan's Central Bank observes growth in credit institutions' assets

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 3. The collective assets of all accredited credit institutions in Turkmenistan surpassed 157.46 billion Turkmen manat ($44.9 billion) as of March 1, 2023, Trend reports.

The data shared by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan shows that this is 2.1 percent more than on the corresponding date of the previous year, when it amounted to 154.08 billion Turkmen manat or $44 billion.

Of the total assets, loans issued to credit institutions, enterprises, organizations, and citizens amounted to 121.4 billion Turkmen manat ($34.65 billion) at the beginning of March this year, which is 1.5 percent more than in the same month of 2023 (119.56 billion Turkmen manat, or $34.1 billion).

For the specified month, correspondent accounts with the Central Bank of Turkmenistan and funds in reserve accounts also increased slightly compared to the beginning of March 2023 (21.18 billion Turkmen manat, or $6.05 billion), amounting to 21.33 billion Turkmen manat ($6.09 billion).

As of May 3, 2024, the Turkmen manat's official exchange rate against the US dollar stands at 3.5 manats per USD, according to data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
