TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 4. Uzbekistan and Emirati Amea Power sign an agreement on the construction of a wind power plant with a total capacity of 1,000 MW in Karakalpakstan, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, the total cost of the project is $1.1 billion.
As a result of putting this plant into operation, Uzbekistan will generate 3.5 billion kWh of electricity per year, save 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves, and prevent the emission of 1.4 billion tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere.
Meanwhile, AMEA Power, established in 2016, has been actively involved in renewable energy ventures worldwide, boasting a portfolio of projects with a combined capacity of over 6 GW of energy spread across 20 countries.
Another international renewable project implemented in Uzbekistan is the Scaling Solar 2 Project, which has received financing support in the amount of $12 million from the World Bank.
The project will help expand the country’s capacity to produce clean and renewable energy as well as further support the government’s agenda for renewable energy development.
