TBILISI, Georgia, May 4. A total of $4.3 billion was committed by ADB to Central and West Asian countries in 2023, ADB Director General for Central and Western Asia Eugenue Zhukov said during a briefing at the ADB annual meeting in Tbilisi on May 4, Trend reports.

"In total, $4.3 billion was allocated by the ADB for Central and West Asia countries in 2023, including $1.3 billion for climate financing, which entails investments from both the public and private sectors in clean and renewable energy development, sustainable transport networks, green urban development, as well as integrating climate actions into agriculture, public sector management, healthcare, and education projects," he said.

He also mentioned that over $724 million was allocated for adaptation, i.e., climate-resilient agriculture, infrastructure development, and energy systems, and over $605 million for mitigation, i.e., measures to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency across all sectors.

Evgeny Zhukov also added that new partnership strategies with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have been approved.
