BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Türkiye's ports received over seven million tons of cargo from Italy in the first quarter of 2024, Trend reports via Türkiye's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
The ministry noted that in the reporting period, Turkish-flagged vessels delivered 1.6 million tons of cargo to the ports from Italy, while vessels under the flags of other countries delivered 5.2 million tons.
During this period, Italy-flagged vessels delivered 304,874 tons of cargo to Türkiye's ports. More than 3.8 million tons of transit cargo were transported to Türkiye's ports from Italy from January through March 2024.
Meanwhile, Türkiye's ports received 36.68 million tons of cargo in March 2024.
The cargo traffic to the inland ports of Turkish-flagged vessels amounted to 2.9 million tons during this period.
Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 33.7 million tons.
Moreover, nearly 5.7 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye in March this year.
The ministry's data shows that Turkish ports received 102.7 million tons of cargo from January through March 2024.
The cargo traffic of Turkish-flagged vessels in the above period totaled 7.7 million tons. Meanwhile, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye by vessels under the flags of other countries amounted to 95 million tons, the ministry said.
The ministry also mentioned that from January through March 2024, over 16.8 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye.
The ports of Türkiye received 4,531 vessels in March this year.
The ministry noted that during this period, the number of vessels accepted into Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 3,324, and under the Turkish flag, 1,510.
From January through March 2024, Turkish ports received 13,718 vessels.
“During this time, vessels flying the flags of other countries received by Turkish ports amounted to 9,372, and vessels flying the flag of Türkiye - 4,346,” the ministry added.
