Political Situation in Georgia not to Affect Economic Projects with Azerbaijan – Georgian Opposition Candidate

Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. К.Ramazanova / The political situation in Georgia will not affect the economic projects with Azerbaijan, Levan Gachecheladzeh, a single candidate from the united opposition of Georgia, said during the press-conference. "The regional projects will continue," Gachecheladzeh said.

The Georgian President set the date for the special presidential elections in Georgia on 5 January. The Georgian Government dispersed the opposition rallies by demanding the President's resignation and to hold parliamentary elections in spring of 2008. For the first time Michael Saakashvili imposed an emergency situation in the country. The emergency situation in the country ended on 16 November and the functioning of all TVs and radios were restored.

MP Gachecheladzeh represents the region which is heavily populated with Azerbaijanis and will meet with Azerbaijani electors. "I promise them freedom in everything," Gachecheladzeh said.

Gachecheladzeh was born in Tbilisi. He is the well-known businessman and politician in Georgia, as well as being called 'wine king'. He was elected to the Georgian Parliament by the majority system from the election bloc New Rights.
